OnYourMark partners with schools to deliver virtual literacy interventions for students in grades K-6.
Our approach is grounded in the Science of Reading, with a singular goal: to ensure students learn to read by third grade.
We offer two models of virtual tutoring—1:1 and 1:2 tutor-to-student ratios—at different price points so schools can select the model that best fits their needs and budget.

The OnYourMark Difference
Our program is built to drive rapid and lasting results. We achieve this by focusing on three core principles:
Data-Driven Instruction
Data drives every aspect of our program from start to finish.
We begin by collaborating with schools to analyze student assessment data and determine tutoring rosters based on individual need.
Our tutors then use validated benchmark assessments like DIBELS® alongside regular formative assessments to deliver targeted instruction through our scripted, research-based curriculum. Consistent progress monitoring enables tutors to celebrate growth, address challenges in real-time, and provide the precise support each student needs to achieve skill mastery.
Expert Tutors
Students deserve high-quality, effective instruction from an adult who is invested in their success. That’s why our hiring process is highly selective, only hiring about 1 in 10 applicants.
Before ever engaging with students, our tutors receive 22+ hours of initial training followed by 60 minutes of weekly professional development. This rigorous process ensures we have mission-driven tutors who build strong relationships with students, keeping them engaged in every session and excited to come back to learn more.
A Collaborative Partnership
We work alongside schools to augment existing reading instruction. By investing in our program, teachers are freed up for small groups, while students benefit from a dedicated “reading cheerleader”. We regularly meet with our school partners to share results and ensure students are making as much progress as possible.
Proven Growth for Early Literacy Learners
Our tutoring delivers measurable, life-changing results for struggling readers—fast. The data from the 2024-2025 school year shows significant student growth:
Rapid Progress to Grade Level
We saw a 175% increase in the number of students who were at or above the benchmark from the beginning to the end of the year. This translates to a 21-percentage point increase, moving from 12% to 33% of students reading at or above grade level.
A Majority of Students Exceed Expectations
Overall, 54% of tutored students met or exceeded growth expectations, with 34% achieving above or well above average growth. For students in our spring-only program, this number was even higher at 64%.
Empowering Struggling Readers
The program is especially effective for the most at-risk students. For students who started the year well below or below benchmark, 80% met or exceeded growth expectations in at least one individual literacy skill, showing they are making important progress.

Blended Intervention Model
By combining targeted 1:2 virtual tutoring with Magpie’s adaptive literacy practice, 76% of students met their growth targets—demonstrating how our humans-first instructional model, enhanced by AI-supported tutoring, delivers measurable results.
UFLI Foundations Integration
This Science of Reading curriculum achieved remarkable success across grade levels:
- 92% of 2nd graders showed average or above average growth
- 95% of 1st graders achieved similar results
- 51% of all tutored students increased their national percentile ranking

Stanford University Validation
The first randomized controlled trial of a virtual early literacy tutoring program, conducted by the National Student Support Accelerator at Stanford University, confirmed OnYourMark’s effectiveness:
- Kindergarteners gained the equivalent of 24 additional days of learning in letter sounds
- First graders gained the equivalent of 51 additional days in word decoding
- Tutored students significantly outperformed control group peers
